In a LFW defined by emerging talent, the 2010 Fashion Awareness Direct Awards were a mine of future creative promise, with young designers drawing on personal and collective memories to produce the designs of the future.

NICK CAVE
Nick Cave
Nick Cave creates wearable works called “Soundsuits” which are made of materials including twigs, hair, fabric, sequins, bottle caps and many types of found objects. These peices are meant to be worn in performance as well as displayed as sculpture. The Soundsuits alter the shape of the body, for example several of them have elongated heads, and when worn the layers of objects and materials produce sound in response to the movements of the body. Cave deals with race, particularly the experiences of African American men, and the Soundsuits act as an obstacle, a barrier between the wearer and society, as well as being protective. They are very beautiful but at the same time a burden. I have an interest in costuming and the way it affects the appearance and movement of the body that I have explored in the past year, in the form of a shed “skin” raincoat, a unicorn suit with tree stumps for hooves, and a wig made of book pages folded into fanciful shapes. “Nick Cave- Art in Motion” is a youtube video that shows some of the suits in motion with sounds.

Un gran triunfo para todas las mujeres, ya que Kathryn Bigelow es la primera en ganar el oscar a la mejor dirección, sin duda una muy buena celebración en este ocho de marzo, con mujeres con esta y mil otras más llegaremos lejos!
«En tierra hostil» de Kathryn Bigelow, gran vencedora de los Oscar con seis estatuillas
Kathryn Bigelow, que es la primera mujer en ganar en la categoría de mejor dirección, se salió con la suya ante su ex marido, James Cameron, y el cine independiente le volvió a ganar la batalla a lo comercial. «Avatar» solo se llevó tres premios técnicos.
«En Tierra Hostil» se llevó seis de los nueve Oscar a los que aspiraba y dio la campanada en la 82 edición de los premios de la Academia de Hollywood, una ceremonia en la que eclipsó a «Avatar», su gran rival.
David venció a Goliat. Kathryn Bigelow se salió con la suya ante su ex marido, James Cameron, y el cine independiente le volvió a ganar la batalla a lo comercial.
«En Tierra Hostil» se llevó las estatuillas a Mejor Película, Dirección (Kathryn Bigelow»), Edición, Guión Original, Edición de Sonido y Mezcla de Sonido, mientras que «Avatar», que aspiraba a nueve premios triunfó en las categorías de Dirección Artística, Efectos Visuales y Fotografía.
«Éste es un momento único en mi vida», dijo Bigelow, de 58 años, sobre el escenario al convertirse en la primera mujer en recibir un Oscar a la mejor dirección.
El resto de los OSCAR, la alfombra roja en sí me pareció un tanto aburrida, ningún estilismo fuera de lo normal, tengo que añadir que el color del vestido de Penélope Cruz era muy bonito, el granate es uno de los colores de moda, junto con el kaki y el camel!
