THE SPIRIT OF THE BLACK DRESS
The inaugural Spirit of the Black Dress event aims to promote emerging Australian fashion and textile designers. Designers from across the continent were asked to submit their interpretation of the wardrobe staple then 10 were selected to represent the event for 2009.
The successful applicants are a varied and talented group who have come together to lead the way forward for Australian fashion. As part of the application the designers were asked to respond to the question of sustainability and a dominant theme was the use of upcycled textiles to create a functional multipurpose garment, contrasting dramatically with the fast-fashion consumer culture that currently reigns on the high street.
The garments were photographed by Christian Blanchard and hung in a gallery format alongside the dresses giving viewers the inspirational and physical side by side. Creative types from across the genres of styling, photography, hair, make-up and design were given the opportunity to flex their imagination and create directional images that demonstrate the way forward for Australian design.

Vi esta foto hace tiempo en internet, no la guardé y me arrepentí, hoy casualidad de la vida, la he vuelto a encontrar, me encanta, me transmite paz, armonía, calor de hogar!!! que importante es la familia! bueno por lo menos para mí ;)

MIAMI HEAT ;)
American Perez was born on june 2008 in Barcelona.
Natalia Perez and Jorge Bolado Moo are the names behind the brand.
Natalia was born in 1986 in Barcelona, she graduated as a fashion designer in the Superior School of Design ESDI (Barcelona) and also at the University of Southhampton.
Jorge was born in O Porriño in 1984, he graduated in Fine Arts in the University of Vigo and later he moved to Barcelona where he graduated in a master’s degree in styling in Superior School of Design BAU.
Their first collection “American Perez” is finalist in Modafad Book-t project (September 2008), selected by the Genial Fashion STIB as one of the best collections (September 2008), showed in Madrid Fashion Week El Ego de Cibeles (February 2009) and is invited by CreatEurope Design Award to Berlin in October 2009.
The second collection, “Miami Heat” is showed and finalist in Modafad Awards in September 2009.

NICOLA MORGAN
Mittelmoda Award for the best collection in competition
The biggest winner was the UK's Nicola Morgan. Streamlined and well-tailored, the University of Northumbria graduate's impressive collection won her the 1st Mittelmoda Award for the best collection in competition. She won global recognition and a grand prize of €10,000.
Morgan's collection was built up from interchangeable laser-cut pieces, demonstrating Morgan's notable craftsmanship and innovative approach to design.
